About PetPawCalc
PetPawCalc is a free resource for pet owners who want clear, reliable answers — without wading through ads, paywalls, or vague advice.
We build calculators and guides for everyday pet care questions: How old is my dog in human years? How many calories should my cat eat? What does owning a pet actually cost per year?
Our Approach
Every tool on PetPawCalc is built on established veterinary research and published guidelines — including formulas from the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP), the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, and peer-reviewed nutritional research. We clearly state where results are estimates and where individual variation applies.
We don't make medical diagnoses. That's your vet's job. But we help you show up to that appointment better informed — knowing your pet's calorie needs, understanding what their age means for their care, or having a realistic sense of costs before making a decision.
What We Cover
PetPawCalc focuses on the practical, numbers-based questions pet owners ask most: How old is my dog in human years? How much should I feed my cat? How much does pet insurance typically cost? What will a dog actually cost me per year?
We pair each tool with evidence-based guides so you have context for the numbers, not just a result. Our blog covers dog and cat nutrition, health, and cost topics — always connected back to the calculators so you can act on what you read.
Who Made This
PetPawCalc is an independent project built by a pet owner who got tired of searching for straightforward answers and finding vague advice, outdated information, or content clearly written to sell something. Every tool here is designed to give you a useful number — not a lead-in to a product recommendation.
There's no corporate backing and no sponsored content. When we mention pet insurance or specific products in educational context, it's because they're relevant to the topic — not because anyone is paying us to say so.
A Note on Accuracy
Our calculators produce estimates, not clinical measurements. A dog age calculator based on size categories can't account for individual genetics. A calorie calculator gives a starting range that your specific dog may need adjusted 10–20% in either direction. We build in appropriate ranges and clearly note limitations so you can use results as a starting point, not a final answer.
Always Consult Your Vet
Our tools are for informational and educational purposes only. Please always consult a licensed veterinarian for medical decisions about your pet. No calculator replaces professional veterinary care, and nothing on this site should be used to diagnose or treat a medical condition.
